Rules

Version 1.0 · Effective 2026-08-22 · Last updated 2026-08-22

The short version of how The Top Board works. The Terms of Service are the full agreement.

How ranking works

  • Ranking is decided by one thing only: each listing's active, completed bid.
  • The minimum first bid is $5, and bids are whole US dollars only.
  • Aiming for #1? The suggested amount is the current #1 bid plus $5 — but any valid amount is allowed, and your listing simply lands wherever that amount ranks.
  • Exact tie between two bids? The earlier bid wins.
  • Want to raise an existing listing's bid? You pay the difference, not the full amount again.

Payments and timing

  • Only completed payments count. Starting checkout reserves nothing — no rank, no price.
  • Anyone can outbid you at any time, including while you are in the middle of paying.
  • Click counts shown on the board are filtered estimates, not exact figures.

What can be listed

  • A real product, business, or project — with a working website — that you are authorized to promote.
  • Not allowed: anything in the Acceptable Use Policy (scams, malware, illegal content, impersonation, and more).
  • We moderate the board and can remove listings that break the rules.

Refunds

  • Completed placements are generally non-refundable just because your rank changed or the results disappointed — that is how a live leaderboard works. Errors and failed activations are refunded. See the Refund Policy.
